What digital platforms are students currently using to develop their professional network?

1. Facebook – Almost everyone has their own Facebook account. People can communicate with others, and they can perform webinars, workshops, trade show appearances or job fairs on Facebook. For students, they can find out about people with expertise and willingness to share their experiences on Facebook.
2. Quora is a knowledge-sharing website. There are many people who ask questions or answer others’ questions on Quora. It is a good way to learn about the challenges students face in their academic work, and there is an opportunity for you to help them to solve the problem.

What could student consider in expanding their professional learning network?

1. Explore their interests, and don’t waste time on something they have no interest in.
2. Find areas they are good at that will help them in their future plans and career.
3. Create a positive digital identity, which is an efficient way to protect reputation.

Because the security of personal privacy is not guaranteed nowadays, we cannot share our personal privacy with others on PLN, and we should not easily register accounts and fill in our personal information on insecure web pages. As long as we all protect our privacy, it will be more difficult for hackers to steal our information and less people will be cheated by scam phone calls, messages, or emails.

In your network, how can you create a digital/reputation?

Actively share your thoughts and make legitimate statements that do not cause heated battle online. When someone asks you for professional advice, you can share your academic experience or a professional bachelor’s answers. Your reputation, your ability, and your approach to solving problems will make you better able to find a suitable job. Other than that, I will protect my privacy and not give anyone the opportunity to steal my information and then do something bad that will degrade my reputation.
